Who We Are

Our Mission:

Movement Collective is a non-profit organization that seeks to build community by providing opportunities to improve physical and mental wellness, developing outdoor adventure skills, and promoting relationships between young people and experienced mentors.

In short - we put away our phones, get outside, and make lifelong friends in the process.

Movement Collective was born out of a desire to share the joys of outdoor adventure with others.

We exist to break down the barriers of gear, community, and “know how”, in order to empower teens to discover all that the Laurel Highlands has to offer. As we equip young people to enjoy the outdoors, we also encourage participants to develop healthier lifestyles, make great friends, and acquire lifelong skills.

We’re a non-profit organization accepting tax deductible gifts to help us:

  1. Purchase necessary equipment.

  2. Cover our operating expenses.

  3. Offer our services at no charge to teens in our community.

Unfortunately, the decline in youth mental health is a well documented phenomenon often described by experts as a crisis. Anyone currently working with teens will be readily able to share their first hand experience with teen mental health struggles. Isolation, social media, inactivity and a nonstop barrage of online negativity have created the perfect storm for teens to fall into a spiral of inactivity, depression, and further isolation. Kids need an outlet and we want to provide a healthy one. Our region is rich in opportunities for those with the ability to take advantage of them. We want more kids to have the opportunity to build the confidence to get out and get active.
